Homemaker Gift Guide – Simple Gift Ideas 2023
Practical Gifts
When I think of practical gifts, I always think of those high-ticket items. Usually, it’s appliances or some sort of gear I’ve been looking forward to upgrading.
Here are a few of those high-ticket items you could consider gifting this year.
Kitchen/Home Items
Instant Pot
If you’re looking for time-saving technology, an instant pot is a great choice!
Air Fryer
As of 2023, the average cost of an air fryer is $80. But some models can run up to $300! If you’re looking for kitchen gadgets for your frugal homemaker, consider splurging on an air fryer!
Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer
I can’t speak highly enough about my Kitchen-Aid stand mixer. It’s an incredible tool in my kitchen, and my only regret is not investing in the more powerful model!
With this machine, you can knead bread, shape pasta noodles, grind meat and fat, spiralize vegetables, and so much more! Be on the lookout for deals around the holidays – you can save up to $100 per mixer!
Coffee Maker
Bring the joys of an afternoon coffee trip to your own home! Coffee makers can be pricey, but a worthwhile investment if you’re looking to save money in the long run.
Budget-Friendly Practical Gifts
A Candle
A Diffuser
If you’re looking to get away from candles, a diffuser with essential oils is a great place to start!
A Gift Card
Gift cards are always great options because they never expire, they don’t produce clutter, and they can be tailored to fit the recipient’s interests.
A Book
Some of my favorite homemaking books are written by Sally Clarkson. Gift either The Lifegiving Home or The Lifegiving Table to any homemaker and they will be blessed by reading these wonderful books.
A Bouquet
Sometimes simple is just enough! Highlight the beauty of the season you’re in by focusing on mums for fall, roses for summer, and tulips for spring!
Thrift Store Gifts
Don’t underestimate the power of building a home on a budget! Consider thrift store gifts for the homemaker who is striving to make her home elegant and classic.
Cast Iron Dutch Oven
Save for one piece of cast iron that was gifted to us, our cast iron has been thrifted! New-age cast iron takes an extra level of care and consideration that thrifted cast iron does not. Largely because thrifted cast iron has usually been well-loved and cared for.
Cast iron is a great addition to any kitchen! It’s an incredible, non-toxic cooking option.
Enamel Farmhouse Pitcher
Farmhouse pitchers are a great summer decor piece! You can also avoid enamel and opt for galvanized metal or stoneware if your homemaker prefers a different style.
Cute Mugs
Who doesn’t need more coffee mugs?
Woven Baskets
If your homemaker is also a homesteader, woven baskets are a great thing to add to any home! Larger baskets can easily be used for books and blankets around the house. Small to medium baskets can be used at farmer’s markets or in the garden.
Linens
A set of quality Christmas sheets, table runners, napkins, and even rugs are all things you can thrift! Do your research and look for quality items with little use.
Glassware
Glassware such as candle stick holders, vases, drinking glasses, pitchers, and the like are all incredible gifts to give. In fact, you may start a collection of heirloom pieces that can be passed down to future generations!
FAQ
What do you buy a homemaker for Christmas?
Gift-giving should take into account one’s interests and needs. A common gift-giving “guide” could be something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read.
What is a homemaker?
A homemaker is a woman who oversees the management of her home instead of seeking employment outside the home. If you want to learn more about this incredible work, read about my own journey to becoming a homemaker in this blog post!

Jewelry doesn’t have to be expensive. You can easily thrift jewelry or take the time to build her jewelry collection with something like a charm bracelet. How special it is to create lasting memories with something like a charm bracelet!
You can also add to the collection over time. Consider purchasing a pair of earrings first, then a necklace, then a bracelet. There are practical ways to go about buying jewelry!

Beauty products are a great way to support small shops in your area! If you’re unable to support small shops in your area, make your own beauty products! I have several great recipes on my website.

Beauty products could be in addition to a spa night! Consider creating your own sugar scrub and including a gua sha tool and a candle. Include her favorite book and a favorite treat for an added touch!
Encourage a New Hobby
Homemakers can get stuck in a rut of never being able to make time for themselves. So encourage it!
For the budding seamstress, consider a craft store gift card so she can shop for fabric. Or buy a needlepoint kit in a design you know she’ll love.
For an aspiring baker, consider starting with something like a silicone mat and a piping bag. You can also add in the ever-popular offset spatula or some decorative sprinkles for some added flair.
A Weekend Away
What a treat! Plan a weekend getaway for your homemaker. This is a great gift given by her husband.
A weekend away could also be a staycation. If you’re looking for a frugal gift or a gift that doesn’t break the bank, let children stay with family so you can have the house to yourself!
Properly Preserve Old Photos
Old photos also make meaningful gifts. You can preserve photos in a few different ways. Consider creating keepsakes like calendars or photo albums using services like Shutterfly or Snapfish.
You can also digitize photos and store them on an external hard drive.
