A Handmade Home on a Budget
Welcome to Homemaker and Happy! My name is Sierra. I’m a Christian, wife, and mother to two beautiful children. I always knew I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, but I never knew what that looked like logistically.
I became a full-time homemaker in 2018, before I had children. Since then, I’ve learned how to cook food from scratch, shop frugally without sacrificing quality, and make my house warm and inviting for my family and visitors.
Follow along as I learn more homemaking skills, make a dollar stretch, and decorate my home with a few simple design tips and DIY projects.

About Sierra
I’ve lived in Arkansas since I was a girl and I never thought I would be a stay-at-home mom. I originally wanted to be a career journalist.
My husband is a first responder and I am a stay-at-home mom. We have figured out how to live on one income by being frugal and patient. I have found ways to exercise my talents (and even make a profit from them!) with DIY crafts, beauty products, and more.
I love natural remedies and from-scratch meals. Food is incredible!
My husband and I run an urban homestead in our backyard. We manage a 20 egg chickens all year round, and a garden and meat chickens in the summers. We are passionate about where our food comes from and we try to source all of our food as locally as we can.

My daughter is the first girl born to my husband’s family in three generations.
It’s always been a dream of mine to write a book!
While in college, I spent a month out of my summer teaching English in another country!
I love throwing together a fun snack for my kiddos! Check out my take on a classic vegetable tray in this blog post.
Why “Homemaker and Happy”?
When I became a full-time homemaker, I struggled with the feeling that one of my primary contributions to my home was in making money. I spent a few nights crying to my husband because I felt like that’s were some of my best talents were executed.
I wasted so much time believing that lie.
But I’m thankful I was able to work through it all. Because I haven’t been able to find a greater purpose anywhere else.
