Enjoy these drawing prompts and spread some Christmas cheer this year! These prompts are perfect for creating your own Christmas cards or adding a personal touch to a gift tag.
I’m in the season of young children, which means they love to be involved in everything that I’m doing. I will gladly take the time to bring them along with me and teach them things like how to unload the dishwasher, how to change over the laundry, and how to pick up their toys!
But in this season of little hands making lots of messes, it’s easy to overlook a crucial part of their development – having fun!
The winter months are the perfect excuse to dabble in arts and crafts a little more than we normally would throughout the year. Since we’re staying inside to escape winter’s bitter chill, I thought it would be fun to create some cute winter drawings that will warm someone up this winter!
And don’t think I forgot about you, mama. Jump in on these drawing prompts with your little ones! There are several that you could flush out as homeschool lessons and even keepsake art pieces for other members of your family.
Here are some drawing ideas I hope you and your family will use this holiday season. Please note – there are no step-by-step instructions included in this blog post. These are ideas and prompts for you and your family.

Quite a few of these are influenced by the Christmas Season. What other winter-themed drawings do you and your family like to do? Comment on this blog post and let me know!
1 Candy Canes
Candy canes are a great place to start! You can outline the candy cane and have your little one practice coloring inside the lines. If you don’t want to color, this also makes a great fine motor skills activity. Take a white pipe cleaner and string some clear and red beads (alternating colors in whatever pattern you choose) onto the pipe cleaner. Be sure to leave some room to bend the pipe cleaner. Ta-da! A simple craft that has inspired some more indoor fun!
2 Santa Hat
Another great staple of the winter season! You could even turn this into a homeschool lesson and talk about how different cultures approach Christmas.
3 Gingerbread Man or Gingerbread House
This would make a great drawing, but an even better treat!
4 Santa’s Sleigh
Don’t forget to include all your reindeer! Consider learning the jingle that goes along with the reindeer. Whether or not you believe in Santa, it’s sure to put a smile on your face!
5 Christmas Lights
I love the traditional colors of Christmas – bold reds and dark greens. Add a festive flair with gold and silver, or let your little one go wild and create lights from every color in the rainbow!
6 Christmas Presents or Christmas Gifts
7 Christmas Ornaments
A Christmas ornaments drawing would make an incredible keepsake piece! Consider decorating the ornament with an outline of your child’s hand. Or decorating the ornament with your child’s interests from that year. Don’t forget to date this artwork! You can also make copies (or simply draw multiple ornaments) for grandparents to love for years to come!
8 A Nutcracker
If you have ever perused the Christmas section of your local craft store, take note of how many different nutcrackers there are! Use them as inspiration for your Nutcracker drawings.
9 Christmas Tree
10 Polar Bear
I didn’t touch on many winter animals in this blog post. What other winter animals could you draw? You could also turn this drawing inspiration into a homeschool lesson! Take a winter hike and brush up on animals that are active in your area during the winter. What animals are hibernating? When will they wake in the spring? So much inspiration from such a simple drawing prompt!
