Spiritual growth is the goal for this lifetime! If you are looking to encourage women in your area with a church ladies’ day, I hope these theme ideas inspire you and give you the direction you’re looking for.
I love that we have the ability to fuse Bible study and fun activities.
Think of all the ways we are able to do those two things. Vacation Bible School programs and holiday parties like Easter egg hunts or fall festivals are great ways to get children involved. But who says women can’t get together and enjoy some fun, too?
If you are interested in hosting a church ladies’ day, this is one of the ways you can fuse fun and studying Scripture!

Common Themes – Ladies’ Day Theme Ideas
I hope that these theme ideas inspire you to encourage the women in your congregation!
This is not an exhaustive list of ideas. This list can also be used for your congregation. Meaning, if you see a theme idea that would work better for another verse of the Bible, use it for that purpose!
Just remember – we want God’s word to be properly taught and represented. That’s the goal!
1. The Power of Words, Both Good and Bad
“But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men…Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?” (James 3:8-11)
We can both build someone up and tear someone down with what we say. Dive into what James and the Psalms say about bridling the tongue!
2. If the Shoe Fits
This idea comes from The Ruffled Mango.
The idea is from Ephesians 6:15, which says, “and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”
The entire armor of God is an incredible thing to study! What other areas of the armor of God could you study at a ladies’ day? Comment on this blog post and let me know!
3. Amazing Grace – God’s Unmerited Favor
Grace is a topic worth studying over and over again.
How does God give us grace? How can we have grace for each other?
4. Women of the Bible
Service, sacrifice, strength, and faith – all things that all women in the Bible embody in some way!
The Bible is full of fantastic stories from both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Consider studying these women at your ladies’ day:
– Ruth
– Naomi
– Esther
– Tabitha
– Mary (Mother of Jesus)
5. God’s Bountiful Blessings – Fall-Themed Ladies’ Day
Have you studied how God blesses His people? Wow!
Take this theme and run with it for your fall-theme ladies’ day. You can even break down blessings from the Old Testament or blessings from the New Testament.
If you want to play more to the seasonal theme, you can focus on how we can avoid falling for sin, or how God showers us with blessings when we sin but return to Him.
Foster deeper connections within your home…
When you let the word of God dwell within you, it becomes a way of life!
Homemaking is also a way of life. To see how I use what I write about, sign up for my email newsletter!
6. When Life Gives You Lemons
“This world is not my home, I’m just a passing through.”
This world was not meant for us to be comfortable, but for us to long for heaven! Learning how to navigate the world and its sorrows is always worth learning.
This theme can go in so many directions for a lesson. You can talk about how to focus on the positives in life or how to navigate life’s trials.
7. Anchored in Christ
A nautical theme that touches on the importance of rooting ourselves in God’s word. More specifically, Jesus’ example!
8. What Not to Wear – Spiritual Edition
“What Not to Wear” was a popular television show that toured the United States in search of people who needed a makeover.
We may need a spiritual makeover if we aren’t practicing the fruits of the Spirit!
9. On Butterfly Wings – Embracing Our New Life in Christ
Jesus died on the cross and rose again so that we might live in newness of life.
What a gift!
Explore what happens when that transformation takes place and how we can embrace our new lives in Christ.
10. Spring Cleaning My Heart and Home
Another great seasonal take on a very important topic.
Is there anything in your life that isn’t serving God or helping you focus on your spiritual life? It’s time to dust it off and get it out of your life!
Similarly, you can focus on the same idea but from a gardening approach. “Weeding your spiritual life” is also a cute, spring theme for a ladies’ day.

11. Life in Christ – Good to the Last Drop
You may see this marketed as a coffee-themed ladies’ day, but it can easily be a tea party. If you host your ladies’ days during the summer, consider using sweet tea!
12. Press On
This laundry-themed ladies’ day lends itself to a laid-back decor style. You can keep things simple and breezy with clotheslines and soft fabrics like cotton and linen.
Your lesson(s) can be centered around ideas like how to work through conflict with others or what to do when trials come.
13. Be All You Can Bee for Christ
Honeybees are fascinating creatures. They are quick to defend their hives, work hard, and produce one of the most complex foods there is. Doesn’t that sound like qualities you want to reproduce in your Christian walk?
14. Bride of Christ
We can draw so much from God’s example of marriage in the garden with Adam and Eve. But have you ever studied Christ’s example of marriage with the church?
Expound on this wedding-themed ladies’ day in your decor as you learn how the church is the bride of Christ.
Keep things simple with white flowers. If you have goodie bags, consider wedding-inspired favors like monogrammed candy or take-away programs that double as fans.
15. Let the “Son” Shine! – How to Evangelize
We are to be a light in the darkness, or “let our light so shine before men,” as Matthew 5:16 says. Spend the day talking about how you can do that!
16. Daughters of the King
We live in an age that tries to confuse the confidence of our faith with pompous pride. They are two very different things!
Spend the day encouraging the women of your area on how they can humbly live like the royalty God calls them to be.
17. Ladies Day Campout – Rest, Renew, Restore
The Proverbs 31 woman is such an admirable woman to emulate. However, it’s important we rest so we have what we need to give to our friends and families.
Focus on that idea at your next ladies day. What does true rest look like? How can you avoid slothfulness when resting?

18. Root Yourself in Jesus
Spend the day surrounded by flowers, talking about how you can plant yourself firmly in God.
19. Tea Party
A congregation local to me hosted a tea party and talked about intentional women’s ministry. Tea parties aren’t normally attended by men, so the atmosphere lent itself to the topic of discussion that day.
Other tea party themes could be “The Finer Things in Life.” Your congregation can talk about what it means to focus on Jesus and leave behind the things of this world.
20. A Fashion Show – Adorning Yourselves with Holiness
This is another ladies’ day theme that we hosted.
Our speaker emphasized God’s holiness and how we can embody that in our own lives. How can we get closer to God and better understand Him?
This was a fun theme to do because we held a fashion show! The entire fashion show was a play on words. We used real carrots to make things like carrot necklaces. We used safety pins to attach bells to jeans to make bell-bottom jeans.
With any ladies’ day theme, feel free to make adjustments like that to fit your theme! Games, skits, and even your decor can represent your theme.
21. Loving Through the Muck
This was a personal favorite of mine because it was a ladies’ day we hosted!
We came up with the theme idea because our congregation was coming out of the pandemic. We knew that there would be wounds from that, and we wanted to encourage our sisters in Christ on how they could love each other through the trials and tribulations of life.

22. It’s About Time/Redeeming the Time
Time management is a great topic to consider, especially during the age of social media and other distractions!
Your focus could also be on how we spend our time. How much time are we devoting to prayer? Bible study? Fellowship?
23. Pot of Gold – Laying Up Treasures in Heaven
What a perfect theme for a spring ladies’ day!
It’s easy to imagine earthly treasures, like retirement accounts or physical assets. But how do you set aside humility, grace, and gratitude? Answer those questions with this ladies’ day theme idea!
24. Pearls and Lace – Becoming a Proverbs 31 Woman
25. Fall in Love with Jesus
Another great fall-themed ladies’ day idea!
This one comes from Julia Bettencourt.
26. Women Weaving Wisdom
Titus 2 tells us that older men and older women should encourage those younger than them.
Wow! If God’s design was for us to seek wisdom from those older than us, how can those relationships be strengthened when older women seek out younger women?
What an encouragement it is to hear that!

27. Bloom in Your Faith
28. Anchored in Faith
Host a summer ladies’ day with a fun spin on a nautical theme.
29. Golden Season Gathering
Glean from the wisdom of the older ladies in your congregation! Make a ladies’ day all about them.
This would also be a great spin on Titus 2 and the wisdom we are to seek from the older women among us.
How to Choose a Guest Speaker
A ladies’ day speaker should speak where the Bible speaks and edify the women who attend your ladies’ day.
It’s wise to vet a guest speaker with questions like:
– How did you become a Christian?
– What are your associated expenses for speaking?
– Do you have experience speaking at other ladies’ days? Do you have recordings we could listen to?
If you don’t want to host a guest, but have women who are willing to teach, choose from within your congregation!
Any speaker you choose should be aware of your theme, be able to speak on an agreed-upon topic, and speak the truth of God’s word.

What’s the Difference Between a Ladies’ Day and a Christian Women’s Retreat?
The difference between a ladies’ day and a Christian women’s retreat is the focus. Do you want to edify women inside or outside your congregation?
A ladies’ day is a wonderful evangelism tool because it’s intended to bring others in. This is a day to contact your area congregations and invite their women to join you! Encourage women to bring their friends, family members, and neighbors!
A ladies’ day is meant for the women in your local community.
A women’s retreat is usually for the women of your church. The goal of a women’s retreat is to strengthen the sisterhood within your own congregation.
Other Ways to Edify Christian Women
Bible studies, small groups, and service projects are all other ways to strengthen the faith of the Christian women you know.
Studying the Word of God is absolutely the best way to edify and encourage Christian women. You could take a technical route and learn Greek or Hebrew to better understand the original writings. Or you could take a laid-back approach and study the Bible topically.
Consider studying something that’s impacting your area or congregation. Studies on finances, sisterhood, and evangelism are all great places to start.
Small groups, attended outside regular worship hours, are another great way to strengthen Christian women in your area. They can be organized by age or location. Under the direction of your church elders, they can be a wonderful way to get together.
Finally, service projects can not only bring the women of your church together, but bring the church itself together.
My church has hosted neighborhood work days, where we go out into the community and help people with their lawn care needs. We have also created meal kits for those in need.
Service projects are a great avenue for personal growth because they show you ways you can truly serve your community.
Creative workshops are another great way to edify women.
I attended a ladies’ day about women’s ministry, and the speaker made a point that stuck with me. Do we talk about what’s bothering women?
If a woman is having financial trouble or troubles in her marriage, will she be able to focus on God’s word in Bible study?
A creative workshop may be the answer to this question. This can be a great time to address issues like finances, marriage, motherhood, emotions, and so much more.
