Dressing modestly doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice beauty or style! Here are some modest women’s fashion ideas from my own closet.
I love modest clothing because I feel like it’s one of the ways I can express my faith. But I don’t feel like I have to sacrifice style in that process.
If you are looking for modest outfits for your own fashion, I hope that these inspire you to keep looking!

Why Modest Fashion?
As a Christian, I feel like my fashion is one of the first ways I can show others about my faith.
I talk about a God who brings peace, order, and love to my life. Do I look like I’m at peace and love my life? I’m a mother two times over. Do I look like I have my life in order?
I’m not saying I have to have it together all the time. After all, I’m human! I have sick days. I am sometimes late to appointments. But I am saying that if my go-to is sweat pants and workout gear, I don’t blame anyone for not taking me seriously (if you know me personally, you know my go-to is actually jeans and a print t-shirt).
I also opt for modest fashion because it aligns with my priorities.
The definition of modesty is to show humility, propriety, and simplicity in your speech, dress, and actions.
My goal as a homemaker is to steward my home and family well. I am not doing this for praise and admiration from others. Nor do I want anything about my life to overshadow my faith or my inner beauty.
That’s why I opt for blouses, jeans, and simple jewelry. It’s my mom “uniform,” if you will. I intentionally choose blouses that are comfortable and move with me, so my children remain my priority. My jeans are simply comfortable, and the stud earrings or bracelet make me feel like I’m put together.
I also love dresses. They are very comfortable and don’t take too much extra effort.
Maxi Dresses – Modest Fashion Inspiration
Modesty is often understood to cover as much skin as possible. Our family doesn’t abide by that standard. But I personally enjoy wearing maxi dresses.
I think that with the correct cut, they are very flattering. And with the right material, they are comfortable enough to work all day long.
Casual Outings – Modest Outfit Inspiration
When I am running errands or meeting a friend for lunch, this is where I lean into my everyday mom uniform. I aim for comfort, but I love to express myself with beautiful colors and prints.
This is where lightweight fabrics truly shine. I love a cotton-blend t-shirt that I can wear year-round.
I think it’s important to note that modest tops are widely available. I can find them in both the department store and the thrift store. Nothing I’m sharing is specific to my region of the country!

Formal Events
I have found that formal wear is harder to dress modestly in. But that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible.
If I’m attending a special event that requires something formal, I try to get my hands on an invitation. Usually, the invitation will have dress code requirements if there are any. Next, I shop my closet to see what I already have.
While I would love to buy something new for every event, it’s not a reality for my family. When I am thrifting, and I stumble upon a dress I could use for a formal event, I pick it up then and there. I’m personally not interested in shopping seasonally and rotating my wardrobe every year. I wear what I love, regardless of when I bought it!
If I truly don’t have something to wear for a formal event, that’s when I move on to a thrift store or a department store. The pomp and circumstance surrounding the event will sometimes dictate my budget or type of attire.
For example, if I’m attending a concert, I will opt for something black and modest. But if the event is a Sunday afternoon picnic, I will opt for a pastel colored tea length dress.

I don’t have any discount codes for fashion, but I have had success with Amazon, of all places.
