What About Ordinary Syrup?
Don’t get me wrong – we love pure maple syrup. It’s why we run out of it so quickly!
This may be a great alternative for someone who is trying to consume less sugar. If you’re trying to get away from maple syrup with high-fructose corn syrup, this is a great first step before investing in pure maple syrup.
Pure maple syrup is expensive!
What About Allergens?
If you are allergic to almonds, don’t make this syrup.
If you are allergic to other nuts, be sure to double-check the allergen notice on your product packaging.
Almonds are also considered tree nuts.
Do your research, and consult your doctor, about consuming products with known allergens.
How Can I Use Nut Butter?
Nut butter can be used in baking and desserts. But it’s also great plain on toast, or as the star in a sauce!
I also use almond butter in a steel-cut oat bar I make. Another great use for it!
Did you know you can also make your nut butter?
Purchase unsalted nuts from your grocery store. You can roast them to bring out their flavor or use them raw. Put them in a food processor and grind until a paste forms.
Nut butter can take some time to make. For the best experience, anticipate on spending anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes with your food processor.
Homemade nut butter is a great way to consider your preferences and allergies, and prioritize non-GMO (genetically modified) ingredients.
